CHAIR MASSAGE.  You’ve probably been in an airport, mall, or farmers market and seen a massage therapist working on people while they’re seating or kneeling on a gizmo that looks like you could fall asleep on it.  Chair massage in Kalispell, MT. isn’t something you see too frequently, and that’s too bad, as the benefits are great enough that it should be a required experience for anyone having pain in their upper body.  We all know the common benefits of massage: increased circulation, better flexability, stress relief,  the list is endless.  But there are some secondary benefits to chair massage that we might want to look at.  First, lets talk a little more about the chair and how it works.

Massage chairs are very adjustable and can usually handle a person up to 280lbs.  Unless they have knee problems, the client sits with their knees down, kinda like how some folks sit in a kayak.  The therapist works the neck, back, arms and sometimes even lower body.  Chair massage usually goes for a dollar a minute, and most people sit for 15-20 minutes.

The secondary benefits of chair massage are many.  If you are uncomfortable with the idea of undressing in an office or spa setting for traditional massage therapy, chair massage is a great way to get some help without having to undress.  Many people simply do not have the time for 60 or 90 minute massage and find that they can put a bandaid on their pain by visiting the massage therapist that’s always at the mall on Saturdays.  Chair massage obviously is cheaper than an office visit.  It is also a great way to interview a massage therapists skills before committing to an appointment.

Recently I’ve been doing chair massage 3 days a week for a large local employer.  The staff are mostly desk workers and are very grateful for my work.  The business pays me, and the employees pay nothing.  It’s worth checking with human resources where you work to see if they would consider a similar program to benefit their employees.

So now we know a little more about that contraption you’ve been wondering about.  Now it’s your turn!
